How To Care For Your Teeth To Prevent A Cavity

Cavity

Most of us grew up with at least one cavity, which sometimes spreads through adulthood.

Finding a good dentist in your area can help eliminate it, no matter where you reside, even in a small suburb. Here’s a guide on preventing cavities from worsening before visiting your nearest dentist or avoiding it from returning after you see one.

How to keep cavities in check

Here are a few tricks to keep your cavity in check if you already have them or are trying to prevent them.

Brush your teeth regularly with the right brush

We have all heard this generic saying since childhood, but this is one of the most effective ways. Make a habit of brushing your teeth twice daily, once after you wake up and the other before you go to bed.

This is a healthy routine to keep the cavity-causing germs and food particles from accumulating in your teeth. Know which bristles are recommended by the dental experts, so you know that you are cleaning your teeth with a proper brush.

Cut down sugary and acid drinks and drink more water

Any dentist you visit will advise you to cut down on sugary and acidic beverages. Understandably, most of us cannot do without our tea and coffee but try to keep the sugar content low.

These beverages also stain your teeth, so do not cross 20 minutes while sipping on them and rinse your mouth once done. Most of the sugar, cream, and beverages stick to our tongue, and that is the leading cause of the cavity.

To counter this, you can drink plenty of water to neutralise your mouth. The water washes down the sugar and chemicals stuck on your tongue and keeps your mouth fresh for longer before you find the time to brush.
