A root canal treatment is a procedure where the infected pulp or nerve of a decayed tooth is removed. The canals are then cleaned, shaped and filled with a material called Gutta-Percha. To complete the treatment, a crown (cap) needs to be placed on the tooth to protect and restore it to full function.
